Cassie Chung

Cassie Chung, University of Connecticut

Cassie received a full athletic scholarship for tennis and is studying Finance at the University of Connecticut. She plays the #4 position in singles and #1 position in doubles. Her highest Tennis Canada ranking was #20. Cassie has also achieved an ITF ranking of #888 and has won the Richmond Open, singles and the Edmonton ITF, doubles. Cassie trained at the Richmond Country Club until she left for College in 2016.

Jack Davis, University of Washington

Jack is attending his first year at the University of Washington, studying Economics. His team is ranked #45 in the US. We will have to wait until the spring to see where Jack fits in the team lineup. Jack’s current Tennis Canada ranking is #6 in U18, and at just 18 years old has an ATP ranking of 1678! Jack was in the RCC Tennis Program until he left for College in 2017.

Larry Zhao, Bowdoin College

RCC Tennis Alum Larry Zhao now attends Bowdoin College hoping to study Economics and Government & Legal studies. Larry was trained at RCC and was a 5 star tennis recruit in the US when he chose to play for Bowdoin (top 5 in NCAA Division III). Larry has been top 20 in Tennis Canada rankings. He still trains at RCC when he is back in town!

Jessie Gong, Yale University

Jessie left RCC in the fall of 2018 to study Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale. She plays the 3/4 position in singles and 1 in doubles. Her team was 4-3 in Ivy League Tennis, the previous season the Bulldogs went 0-7 so that is a pretty big improvement. She won the second team All-Ivy doubles Award with Sam, her partner. They also finished the season ranked 67 in ITAs and were the highest ranked Ivy League doubles team. Way to go!

Sydney Wahl, Southwestern University

Sydney trained at RCC for 3 years and received a tennis athletic scholarship with Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The school is ranked #17 in the nation for Div. 3 schools and for her first year, she looks to join the team as their #3 or #4 player. Academically, the school has a strong reputation and Sydney will be majoring in Communications. Due to the pandemic, she will be doing remote learning for the Fall Semester with plans to join the team in January!

 

UBC Tennis Team (2018-present)

Martin Lorayez, Sara Zupanc, Brianne Jim, and Graeme McIntosh trained extensively in the RCC Tennis Program for over 7 years and were all accepted to UBC, one of Canada’s top Universities. They now train and compete for the UBC Thunderbirds Tennis Team.

Ronak Khara, NYU

RCC’s Ronak Khara is now in his sophomore year at the NYU Stern School of Business majoring in Finance and Data Science. His goal is to have a career in investment banking. Ronak now plays tennis for the NYU Tennis Team. In junior tennis, he had a career-high ranking of #24 in Canada and #8 in B.C. Prior to college, Ronak trained at RCC for 4 years. Many of you have been fortunate to have Ronak as your coach when he comes back during school breaks. He also has his Tennis Instructor certification from Tennis Canada.
